” I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. – 1st Corinthians 3:2

Centenarian tree with large trunk and big roots above the ground

Hello. I am so excited to share this post with you. Isn’t it amazing how the word of God can bring such joy and light to someone’s life? i mean i remember a time when i used to struggle reading God’s word, i almost gave up. The Holy Spirit then showed up and started revealing and showing me Christ in the scripture. The Holy Spirit literally brings life to the scripture, and this only happens when we have a close and personal relationship with Him by accepting Jesus into our hearts and allowing The Holy Spirit to reveal Him to us.

Okay.. back to the main story. i was reading the scripture in Leviticus 19: 23- 25 where the Lord was giving the Israelites instruction, now that they were heading to Canaan (Promised Land).

“When you come into the land and plant any kind of tree for food, then you shall regard it’s fruit as forbidden. three years it shall be forbidden to you,it must not be eaten. And in the fourth year, all its fruits shall be holy, an offering of praise to The Lord. But in the fifth year, you may eat of it’s fruit to increase it’s yield for you: I am the Lord your God.”

I wondered why The Lord would  tell them not to eat the fruit that they have worked so hard for? I mean sometimes, it’s alright to question what was in the mind of God when He gave the Israelites the commandments.

When God told the Israelites not to touch the trees for the first three years, it was His process of separating the old from the new. It was his way of establishing his ways and doing away with the old. The Israelites while in Egypt followed the customs and practices of the Egyptians. Additionally, as they were going into the Canaanite land, God wanted to establish his own roots in that land, and do away with old ones (signifying the Old Canaanite ways.)

A young tree is similar to the life of a new born Christian. I remember the time when i re-dedicated my life to Jesus, that moment when i got saved FUREEEALS! i didn’t know much. All i knew was that i was saved, delivered ,God is real and His power is real. I needed someone to help and guide me through this new journey of salvation. I knew at that point in my life and from what i had gone through, i would immediately receive the giftings, that i would be walking in the  power of God. I mean i was really hungry for the manifestation of the power of God in my life.Everyone else seemed to be operating in the giftings and God was using them mightily. Day after day i waited, but things were happening little by little. And at some point, i felt frustrated and confused. I then i realised that I am not in the same level with these people. i needed to go at the pace God wanted me to. I wanted to grow up too fast.

Paul wrote a letter to the Hebrews and He told them in Hebrews 5 :12-14:

” For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.”

See, God cannot give you more than you can handle and you cannot rush God. It doesn’t matter whether you cry tears of blood. You just have to wait for his appointed time. And it might take long before you can eat the fruit. It might take a while before He uses you. I found out that He must purify his vessels before He could ever use them. He is too Holy. He must try his vessels. He must mould His vessels before He could ever keep them for active service. That’s why just like trees, He plants us and establishes us in the faith but He must ensure that our roots are deeply and firmly rooted in the ground before He could taste of the fruit and see whether we are ripe enough. Only then will He use us.

So what happens as our roots are being grounded in Him? God puts us through the fire. He prunes us and churns us, and How painful it is. I am currently in that season where God is literally molding me and dealing with me. No flesh can glory in his presence. This is the process where He molds the broken parts, cuts off the bad parts, burns of the irreparable parts and makes us a new. it Hurts… It hurts. The beauty is in the end of it all. We  will find that we are stronger and better. We will find that we are established in his word and our faith has  grown to magnanimous proportions.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”  – 1st Peter 5:8-10

Question is then, are you willing to wait for Him to establish you so that He could use you? Are you willing to go through the tests, trials, tribulations? Are you willing to go through the fire? through the pruning process? He only uses vessels that are READY.

Lord, give me the grace to go through the fire that i may become a worthy vessel to be used by You for your glory and Honor.

As always…..
